Environmental Sustainability
State Asphalts NSW has implemented the following environmental sustainability practices;
- Recycled asphalt product (RAP) based mixes
- Lowered carbon footprint due to use of RAP
- EPA licensed RAP storage and production facility
- Environmental best practice regarding site water run off.
- Implementation of dust and air pollution control measures
- Warm mix asphalt technologies to lower greenhouse gas emissions
State Asphalts NSW is proud of its partnership with Closed Loop and our initiative PAKPAVE - the worlds first road surfacing made with recycled packaging, including recycled coffee cups. This environmental initiative is a joint venture with Closed Loop. We call this project "The Road to Recovery".
The environmental benefits of using PAKPAVE include;
- Up to 50% recycled material
- Increased durability
- Higher noise absorption
- Reduced waterspray
- Improved skid resistance
